Wellpepper enables healthcare providers to create custom video treatment programs that patients receive on mobile devices. Patients are reminded when it's time for their program, review instructions, and record results. They can communicate with their healthcare provider between visits and decrease the number of in-person visits while seeing great outcomes. Wellpepper is clinically proven to improve adherence and outcomes in a study by Boston University. We see over 70% patient engagement with the application. Wellpepper is used in rehabilitation medicine, neuro-rehabiliation, sports medicine and orthopedics.

Probleemstelling

We enable patients to be more adherent to home treatment programs and see better outcomes. For some patients, this means being able to be active and remain in their homes longer, for others it means decreasing the risk of hospital readmissions after discharge. Patients can communicate with their healthcare providers remotely and small problems can be corrected before they become major issues.

Doelgroep

We work with private clinics and large healthcare organizations. Our product is currently sold in the United States and Canada, however, it is applicable across the globe. We are focused on the rehabilitation medicine space which covers all types of issues from acute to chronic. As the population ages, this group becomes bigger and bigger. For example, in the US the number of knee and hip replacements is expected to grow 400% to 2030.

Verdienmodel

We sell annual Saas licenses to the healthcare organizations based on the number of provider users. There is no fee for patients. Licenses start at $300/year per provider.

Concurrentie

Our focus on rehabilitation medicine, ease of use, and ability to draw great insight from data are ways that we differentiate ourselves. Our current greatest competitor is paper instructions which are not personalized, hard to understand, and are frequently lost. Our next competitor is medical records companies that have not been traditionally very good at creating software that is usable by patients and the general population.

We have filed a patent for our adaptive notification system. This system changes based on patient behavior so that patients that are adherent see different messages than those who are not. We have also focused on delivering an interface to patients that is extremely easy to use regardless of their previous levels of technical experience and that also fits smoothly into a clinical practice. Through analysis of the data we collect we are able to determine best practices for provider and patient interactions that help patients be more adherent without adding costs to the healthcare system.
