The Meds2Go Cool-One keeps medication between 2-8 °C for over 24 hours. After 24 hours the cooler can be recharged by connecting it to a power source; fully recharged in 2 hours whilst the medication is kept inside the cooler. Therefore, patients no longer have to rely on fridges or freezers.

Making it easy to store your medication correctly while traveling, enhances therapy compliance and reduces the spoiling of expensive medication. This is one of the simplest ways to control medication costs. Using medication in the prescribed way, will increase health results, therapy compliance and improve vitality of all these people.

Probleemstelling

Meds2Go focuses on the group of medication that needs to stay between 2-8°C, called biologics. Not using these type of medication in the prescribed way, can result in many issues as to the reliability of the medication and thus compromising the health of the patient.

Currently, patients rely mostly on cooling bags filled with ice-packs from the freezer.
The problem with these bags is that they give no more than 6-8 hours of safe travel time. There is no temperature monitoring, therefore the patients are in constant stress and insecurities because they don't know the temperature of their medication. In addition, by using ice-packs from the freezer there is a chance the medication freezes. If this happens the medication becomes useless and needs to be replaced. With the cooling bags, patients remain dependent on fridges and freezers whilst traveling.

Our goal is to give back freedom and security to people who depend on temperature-sensitive medication and travel with their medication.

Oplossing

Meds²Go develops hybrid cooling solutions for people who use temperature-sensitive medication (2-8°C). The cooler allows for 24 hours of travel time without the need for electricity. The cooler is electrically rechargeable, so patients are no longer dependent on fridges or freezers. Our cooler gives back freedom and security.

Doelgroep

Most of the new best selling medication are becoming biologics, also pharmaceutical companies invest in new facilities to make biologicals. In addition, in western society the elderly population is growing, resulting in more people with chronic diseases.

The three main target groups can be divided by people with rheumatism arthritis, multiple sclerosis (MS) and growth hormone deficiency (GHD). Our focus customer can be man, woman and (parents of) children of all ages. People suffering from rheumatism arthritis using biologics are by far the largest group of users, being 35% of the total group.
Besides the three main groups, there are around 20 more diseases that use biologics, like Crohn's disease, hepatitis, acromegaly, coagulation disorders, cancer and fertility disorders etc.

Meds2Go focus is on temperature-sensitive medication/ biologics. Our research shows a potential market of 130.000 people in the Netherlands. On a European level that equals to 3.8 million individual users. The market is expected to grow in the coming decades. In the Netherlands, more than 6.000 people are prescribed biologicals for the first time.

Verdienmodel

Products used by patients to carry their medication are not reimbursed at this moment. The end-user is our paying customer (B2C).

Meds2Go will use multiple sales channels, firstly through it's own Webshop.
The consumer price of the Cool-One will be € 350 (incl. VAT).

Meds2Go is looking for partners with medical channels like home-care stores or (online) pharmacies. There is a margin reserved for distribution channels.

Next to the Cool-One, Meds²Go will sell add-on products like: carrier bags and recharge devices.

Concurrentie

The potential competitors for Meds2Go are cooling bags that claim to have a long cooling time. None of them show the real-time temperature of the medication. Patients remain dependent on fridges and freezers. Furthermore, most of these bags don't live up to the claims they make. If they do manage to keep the temperature cool for 24 hours the bags become very large and heavy since they need more and heavier ce-packs.

None of the competitors can guarantee > 24 hours of travel-time, with temperature display and an electrically recharging feature.

One competitor, called lifeinabox, has the potential to be the biggest competitor of Meds2Go. This is a French based company that builds mini-fridges. They show the real-time temperature and can carry the same amount of medication and weighs the same. However, it is more electrically dependent. Where we allow a 24 hour travel time, the lifeinabox has 8 hours of travel time.

The Cool-One was tested on functionality during the field-test and technical testing.

Meds2Go started with a Pre-Sales campaign in October 2020 ending November 2020.
to test the final product and get a better understanding of the willingness-to-pay of our customers. During the Pre-Sales, we reached our goal by selling >100 units.

Implementatiestrategie

At this moment the Cool-One is not reimbursed by insurance companies. The end-users, the (parents of) the patient is the customer.

Meds2Go already started implementation by starting a pre-sales campaign.
With the pre-sales we allow early adaptors to buy the product. From then on these early adopters have to be our ambassadors. Our cooler is more expensive than ordinary cooling bags. Therefore, the recommendations of patients are very important to convince new buyers.

Our product offers more security safety and a longer cooling time, therefore we will position the Cool-One as a high-end product. This product might not be affordable for every patient, to compensate Meds2Go will offer discount until the product launch and offer options to pay in installments. After successful launch of the Cool-One, we will continue the development of cold-chain solutions to offer cheaper versions of the Cool-One.

Meds²Go will start sales within the group of patients who have the biggest pain, being the daily users of temperature-sensitive medication.

We are in contact with patient organizations where these patients spend a lot of time and can be reached. Also Meds2Go has invested time and money to built a community of cooled medication users.

Next to direct sales, Meds²Go will use existing distribution channels that already reach our end-user, like home-care stores and pharmacist.

Productontwikkeling

With the Cool-One we have developed a high-end product that cools for 24 hours and is electrically rechargeable.
Meds2Go will continue developing new versions of the Cool-One with different specs. For example a cooler without the ability to recharge electrically or one that cools longer or less than 24 hours. With different versions, the customer can choose the best cooler suited to their specific needs.

Internationale ambitie

Meds²Go is planning to enter international market as of 2022. Based on market research, and connections & business partners we expect that the German speaking market (“DACH”) and the United Kingdom will be the most likely market that will be addressed first.

One of the distribution channels Meds2Go is looking in is Amazon. With a international reach and a low distribution margin this channel might become relevant for Meds2Go.
Furthermore, we are looking for online pharmacies with an international market to use as a distribution partner for the Cool-One or for the larger Cold-Chain coolers.
