ART Innovation has developed solutions for contactless and continuous monitoring of vital signs and sleep using miniaturized radar sensors. Our core platform is a unique patent pending Ultra-Wideband (UWB) radar for monitoring of respiration and body movement. State-of-art algorithms, hardware and product design along with smart-phone applications target monitoring of highly prevalent health issues related to respiration and sleep disorders.

Probleemstelling

With an average growth of 2.2% the Netherlands shows one of the highest increase in aging population. The cost of assisted living has shown a steady increase in the past years. Heart Disease, Sleep Disorders, Diabetes, COPD etc are on the rise in seniors too. Increase in home care and better monitoring, higher focus on patient safety in Care Homes/Relavidation centres enables preventive care, speedy recovery and reduces the economic burden of senior care. ART Monitoring Solutions enables unobtrusive, contactless, accurate and timely monitoring - thereby helping seniors and their care givers achieve faster and better outcomes. Above all we fit seamlessly into lifestyles and care chains.

Doelgroep

8-12% of the Dutch population suffers from sleep disorders such as insomnia and apnea. Ignoring sleep and respiratory problems results in start of other disorders such as obesity, heart disease, deterioration of Alzhiemers, ART is participating in trials with (a) VGZ to monitor patients with cognitive behavior therapies instead of medication. (b) with Nederlandse Slaap Instituut for insomnia and apnea screening at homes (instead of hospitals/clinics) (c) with UMCU for monitoring respiratory trends for early detection of adverse events.

Concurrentie

Actigraphy, Polysomnography, Contact based respiration monitors are our current competition. Currently a visit to a clinic or home visit by a nurse to measure sleep and respiratory diseases costs 1500 euros to 900 euros (excl device costs). Many times this is limited to spot checks only as it is too expensive to wire up a patient for long term. ART enables easy pre-screening, simple use during therapies and long term monitoring at costs as low as 150 - 400 euros (excl devices costs).

Unieke kenmerken

ART has brought military technology into healthcare applications. Our RADAR sensor is the size of a business card, capable of being mass manufactured at optimal costs, and a million times safer than a mobile phone. Key trials partners and potential customers in Netherlands and USA have acknowledged that ART is one of the most accurate contactless respiration, motion and sleep monitoring solution in the market.

Intellectueel eigendom

ART is continuously monitoring worldwide technology development and updating its IP position and portfolio, to protect its competitive position. The basis of the IP is built upon a number of patents from TNO and on specific in-house technological knowledge. ART entered into an exclusive agreement with TNO on the use of radar based vital signs technology and algorithms developed by TNO. This includes existing IP/knowledge (so called Background Knowledge) and new IP/knowledge developed by TNO and paid for by ART (so called Foreground Knowledge).
